How to Care for Your Lab-Grown Jewelry
Please follow these general guidelines to keep your lab-grown jewelry clean and safe for generations to come.
Store Individually
Keep your luxury jewelry pieces in soft-lined jewelry boxes or individual pouches to prevent scratching each other.
Avoid Damage
Remove your jewelry before gardening, exercising, swimming, or showering. Be extra careful with soft or porous stones like opals which should not be soaked.
Clean Regularly
Soak jewelry for a few minutes in warm water mixed with mild, non-moisturizing soap. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush to gently clean around settings where dirt accumulates. Rinse thoroughly with warm water, but not in a sink to prevent loss down the drain. Dab dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.

Frequently Asked Questions
What damage qualifies under the lifetime warranty?
Our lifetime warranty covers your Chatham lab grown color gemstone if it chips or breaks—or, in the case of opal, cracks or crazes—under ordinary circumstances.
Please note: Normal wear and tear is excluded along with Chatham lab grown diamonds.
If you're unsure whether your damaged stone qualifies under our warranty, simply return it to the store of purchase with your receipt and certificate. Your Chatham retailer will expedite the item to us for review and servicing.
Does Chatham offer a warranty for jewelry pieces?
Chatham supplies a one year manufacturer's warranty on all Chatham jewelry pieces. Every effort has been made to ensure the integrity of your new, handmade Chatham jewelry piece. However, if any defects in the workmanship or materials become apparent within one year of your purchase, we will repair or replace the item, at our discretion, free of charge.
Please note: Jewelry is not indestructible and should be treated with loving care. Keeping this in mind, normal wear, tear, and resizing is not covered under our warranty. Manufacturer's warranty excludes labor and expires one year after the purchase date.
If a warranty issue should occur, you are advised to return the item to the store of purchase, along with your receipt and Certificate. Your Chatham retailer will return the item to Chatham for servicing.
What is listed on a Chatham Jewelry Certificate of Authentication?
Your Certificate of Authenticity validates your jewelry as a genuine Chatham piece. Each laminated trifold jewelry certificate and covered Legacy jewelry certificate contains a picture and full description of the piece.
The trifold jewelry certificate also describes applicable Chatham warranties for your piece such as the Chatham Lifetime Warranty for your center lab grown color gemstone or the manufacturer's warranty for all Chatham jewelry pieces.
What is listed on a passport Certificate of Authenticity for loose stones weighing over 1 carat?
If you purchase a loose stone weighing over 1 carat from a participating Authorized Chatham Gemstone Retailer, you will receive a passport-sized Certificate of Authenticity with your purchase. This official Chatham document ensures that you've purchased a genuine Chatham lab grown color gemstone. It provides general information on the Chatham lab grown gemstone type. It also includes our lifetime warranty promise on your loose lab grown color gemstone.
Please note: This passport Certificate of Authenticity is not a stone specific grading report. Chatham issues grading reports for loose lab grown diamonds only. This is due to color gemstones not following the same grading system as diamonds in general. Also, our lab-grown gemstones are never treated or enhanced.
Why did I not receive an official Chatham document from the retailer with my Chatham purchase?
Not all retailers that carry loose Chatham lab grown gemstones choose to participate in our Authorized Gemstone Retailer program. In these cases, you may not receive a passport Certificate of Authenticity with your loose gemstone purchase, even if it weighs over 1 carat.
Similarly, not all Chatham jewelry retailers participate in our jewelry programs. This may be why you did not receive a Certificate of Authenticity with your Chatham jewelry purchase.
However, if you'd like our Lifetime Warranty Card, you can request this from any Chatham retailer and we will provide it to them with your purchase, free of charge. This is a great way to ensure that you are receiving an authentic Chatham lab grown gemstone.
How do I get my Chatham jewelry repaired?

What to do in case your Chatham lab-grown color gemstone chips or breaks—or, in the case of opal, cracks or crazes.
Step 1: Return to Retailer
Present your official Chatham document and original sales receipt with your lab grown color jewelry piece to the store of purchase. Please provide as much information about the damage and circumstance as possible.
Step 2: Wait for Approval
The retailer will send us the unmounted stone for inspection to determine whether it qualifies for warranty. Normal wear and tear excluded. Chatham lab-grown diamonds excluded. They will contact you with our resolution following inspection.
Step 3: Receive Jewelry from Retailer
If approved, Chatham will decide whether a repair or replacement gem is needed. If a replacement is needed, consideration will be taken to honor the original size and weight of the stone. We will return the finished jewelry piece or loose gemstone to the retailer for pick-up or delivery.
