The Value Proposition

Why Chatham?

What sets Chatham apart from other lab-grown gemstones?

Unmatched Color Consistency

Chatham's superior color quality is one of the many reasons why our gemstones continue to be so desirable.

Every Chatham gemstone displays the rich, saturated color seen only in the top 1% of mined gemstones. Not to mention, none of Chatham's gems are color treated. They are all grown as-is.

Exceptional Clarity

Chatham cuts away 80% of the rough crystal to deliver pure, clean lab-grown gemstones. As with color, none of our gemstones are enhanced or treated to improve clarity.

We ensure gem-quality material free of eye-visible inclusions in every gemstone.

Cut for Brilliance

Chatham's team of master cutters complete a year-long training program compared to the industry standard (6 months).

They learn the skills necessary to cut and shape our gems to maximize color and brilliance.

Lifetime Guarantee

All Chatham lab-grown colored gemstones are held to the highest standards before leaving the lab. However, should a stone ever chip or break under ordinary circumstances, Chatham will gladly repair or replace the item at our option.

This gives your customer peace of mind, comfort, and confidence in their purchase!

Our Process

Chatham doesn't "make" gems. We create the conditions in which gems form within the Earth, carefully controlling the environment to allow crystals to grow naturally.

Chatham's gemstones start from an earth-mined seed crystal from the very best regions on the planet. The seed is placed inside a closed chamber where we duplicate the conditions underground: the temperature, pressure, and chemical makeup.

During a period of up to one year, the natural formation of gemstone crystals begin to grow.

How We Grow

The Ice Analogy

Explaining Gemstone Growth to Your Customer

A helpful analogy when educating your client about the science behind gemstone growth is the formation of ice.

Ice made in a freezer and ice formed in a frozen lake are chemically identical; the difference lies only in the environment. By carefully controlling temperature, chemistry, and time, laboratory growth produces crystals that are often cleaner and more consistent—yet, still entirely natural in structure. Chatham’s work can be thought of as a sophisticated, high-technology extension of nature’s own processes.

Misconceptions & Objections

Here are some ideal responses to common customer concerns. This will help you and your team handle even the toughest customers.

Is lab-grown fake?

Absolutely not! Chatham gemstones are crystals with the same physical and chemical properties as mined stones. They're simply grown above ground.

I only want natural stones.

That's totally fine! Let me show you both so you can compare color, clarity, and brilliance. Many customers fall in love with the richness of Chatham.

Will this hold value?

Yes. Chatham's value comes from the quality, beauty, and lifetime warranty, all backed by the original lab-grown gemstone pioneer.

Why choose lab-grown over mined?

You get the beauty of the rarest mined gems with consistent color, pure clarity, responsible sourcing, and exceptional lifetime value.

Chatham's Kaleidoscope of Hues

The Language of Color

Color psychology is a powerful tool in converting gemstone sales. Different gemstones evoke specific emotions and associations; understanding this can help you market and sell gemstones more effectively.

Color psychology turns a gemstone into more than jewelry: it becomes a statement of identity and emotion.

Cool Colors

Colors such as emeralds, aquas, and blue sapphires, are calming and evoke tranquility, stability, and relaxation.

They are often perceived as soothing and serene, exuding a sense of elegance perfect for a timeless design.

Warm Colors

Colors such as rubies, yellow sapphires, and peach-toned stones like padparadscha and champagne sapphire, evoke feelings of warmth, excitement, and passion.

These are bold, eye-catching colors that stimulate the brain and create a sense of excitement, ideal for a statement piece.

Traditional & Modern Gifts

Birthstones and anniversary stones hold a special place in gift-giving traditions. By combining both traditional and modern lists, you can give customers a wider range of meaningful options, helping them choose the stones that resonate most with their personal style and story.

Close With Emotion, Not Pressure

Customers buy through emotion first and justify with logic second. Use soft closes that appeal to their emotions.

Reinforce Peace of Mind:

"With their lifetime warranty, Chatham designs are meant to be lived in."

Connect the Piece to Her Identity:

"This aqua piece brings out the blue in your eyes."

 Create the Future Memory:

"This is a piece she will reach for every morning."

Validate Her Decision:

"Your purchase today helps make the planet greener. Chatham plants a tree for every sale."
